Saudi Council of Senior Scholars designates Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist group

Riyadh (UNA-OIC) – The Saudi Council of Senior Scholars has designated the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group, and warned against affiliating with this group or showing sympathy for it.

The council said, in a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Tuesday, that the Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organization that does not represent the approach of Islam, but rather pursues its partisan goals that run counter to the guidance of the true religion. It added that the group exploits religion to sow seeds of sedition, violence and terrorism.

The council affirmed that the Muslim Brotherhood is a deviant group that encourages rebellion against rulers, stirs up strife, and destabilizes peaceful coexistence in countries, in addition to describing the Muslim communities as ignorant. It stated that since its very inception, this group has never shown any care for Islamic creed, or the domains of knowledge related to the Book and the Sunnah, for its only goal is to grab the reins of power.

Consequently, the history of the Muslim Brotherhood reveals the full scale of the evil and mischief it is responsible for, and that it has inspired the formation of many extremist and terrorist groups that are responsible for atrocities throughout the world, the council noted.
