OIC Values the Tireless Efforts of ISSF in Supporting the Youth

Konya (UNA-OIC) – The Board of Directors of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) held the eleventh session of the Federation in Konya, Republic of Türkiye, today, August 7, 2022, on the side-lines of the 5th session of the Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG).

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Abdul-Azeez bin Turki Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, ISSF President, in the presence of His Excellency Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, the Turkish Minister of Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 5th ISG.

Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakhiet, OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs delivered the statement of the OIC, conveying the greetings of His Excellency the Secretary-General, Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, to the participants. He also stressed that the OIC attached great importance to sports and the well-being of young people and their physical and psychological health, in line with its charter and ten-year Program of Action which called for the promotion of cultural, social and moral values.

Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakhiet conveyed the OIC’s thanks to the Republic of Türkiye for its appreciable efforts to host the current session, and to harness all its capabilities to make this great sporting event a success. He also highly valued the tireless ISSF efforts, under the wise leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Abdul-Azeez bin Turki, as an institution affiliated with the OIC, to advance youth and promote sports in the Islamic world. Furthermore, he pointed out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the 5th session of the Islamic Conference of Ministers of Youth and Sports next September in Jeddah, looking forward to resolutions in support the efforts of the Federation in achieving these goals, in line with the decent care given by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Azeez and H.H. the Crown Prince, to youth and the sports movement in the Islamic world.
