OIC-EU Senior Officials Meeting examines prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation

Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – In the context of cooperation and consultation with the European Union, the fourth session of the Senior Officials’ Meeting between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the EU was held Wednesday via videoconference.

During the meeting, consultation and exchange of views took place between the two sides on a number of regional and international issues of common concern.

Both sides also reviewed and assessed the existing OIC-EU cooperation and examined the prospects for strengthening this cooperation in several areas, especially the cultural exchange, enhancement of women’s role and competency development, as well as combating Islamophobia and promoting tolerance. They further emphasized the importance of continued coordination on human rights issues.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the senior officials agreed to continue these consultations at the headquarters of the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in the near future.
