Remembrance Day–a delusional escape to a time when fascists were the enemy

Even though Remembrance Day and its symbols date to the end of the First World War, it is the Second World War that attracts the most attention. We still act as if our modern world could trace its origin to the end of hostilities in 1945, oblivious to the fact that we have become the new fascists. As I said this time last year:

“Do we seriously believe that our soldiers, airmen and sailors fought against Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Imperial Japan only to bequeath to us a world terrorized by Israel, the U.S. and Great Britain? What right do we have to indulge the conceit of our own virtue when we have become the enemy and are doing to Arabs and the Middle East what Hitler did to Jewish Europeans and Europe?”*

If the victors of the war consistently adhered to the high-minded principles embodied in the Geneva conventions and the United Nations Charter, Remembrance Day would still have meaning, because the morality embodied in those documents would still apply. But these documents do not apply.

The U.S–”the great Allied power in the fight against fascism–”openly repudiated them so it could torture Muslims and destabilize the Middle East. It acts with the same contempt for humanity as Hitler did; in fact, parallels with Hitler are numerous. If there were any justice in the world, the entire Bush administration, to say nothing of every Israeli leader that ever lived–”would be placed before a Nürnberg-style war-crimes tribunal to account for their atrocities.

Unfortunately, we do not see the U.S. or Israel as an enemy because we still imbibe the stale narcotic of the “Good” Allies and the “Evil” Axis. Our moral compass has changed polarity but we trudge ever onward, not realize we have reversed course.

The hoax of Remembrance Day is that it fosters false memories and selective amnesia. The allies may have defeated the Nazis, but they did not defeat the fascism. It just took on Jewish form in Occupied Palestine, A case could be made that WWII didn’t really end, in the same sense that WWI didn’t “end” with the 1918 Treaty of Versailles. Its absurdly punitive terms made possible the rise of the Nazis, renewed German militarism, and anti-Jewish persecution.

In its early stages, the Nazi regime struggled under an effective worldwide boycott led by the U.S. Jewish War Veterans. It might not have lasted more than a few years, had it not been for Zionist Jews, who constituted at most two percent of Germany’s Jewish population in the 1930s. They collaborated with the Nazis to prop up the economy, facilitate the destruction of European Jewry, and sabotage the boycott.

In fact Avraham Stern, founder and leader of the Jewish military group LEHI (“The Stern Gang”) offered in January 1941 to fight with Germany’s side in return for German support for “the establishment of the historic Jewish state on a national and totalitarian basis, bound by a treaty with the German Reich.”

Professor Ilan Pappé of Haifa University has acknowledged the parallels between the Zionist (Fourth) Reich and the Nazi Third Reich when he called Israel an apartheid or Herrenvolk(“master race”) democracy, Even Israel’s former attorney-general Michael Ben-Yair conceded Israel’s apartheid nature.§

It is testament to the coercive power of The Lobby–”and to the spinelessness of our politicians and media–”that we cannot discuss, much less acknowledge, this aspect of WWII, even though it is the source of all Middle East violence. To do so would focus attention on the era’s last great unprosecuted war criminals–”Jewish fascists, living and dead–”and this The Lobby will never permit.

Moreover, it has so effectively propagandized and dogmatized THE HOLOCAUST that any such criticism is instantly anathematized and its speaker dismissed as a hatemonger. Yet, without investigating the Zionist–”Nazi relationship and the cult of Jewish victimhood it is impossible to make sense of the world’s refusal to apply its standards of ethical conduct to Israel.

Take the recent behaviour of Prime Minister Stephen Harper at the Francophonie summit in Bucharest in October. He appalled the other delegates by blocking Egypt’s attempt to express sympathy for the Lebanese civilian victims of Israel’s bombardment.

Civilian victims are universal sympathetic figures, and the horrors the Lebanese suffered are a matter of public record, so it would have cost nothing for Harper to accede to such a simple gesture, but the Lobby effectively controls foreign policy, and Harper is a Christian zionist.

Ever since 1947, the world has watched as Israel has committed theft and mass murder against Palestinians and justified it by recourse to THE HOLOCAUST, even though it has nothing to do with Israel. Canada, which emerged from the war as a leading diplomatic power and champion of human rights, would rather abet Israel’s genocide than stand up for its victims.

Now, the false moral equation of Israel with Hitler’s victims has gained strength with the announcement of a Jewish War Memorial.

There is nothing wrong with a war memorial, per se. Every group has a right to commemorate those if its members who died in battle, and Jewish Canadians are no different in this regard than anyone else. Problem is, this memorial will honour not only Jews who died fighting fascism but also Jews who died in the service of fascism.

According to the Canadian Jewish News: “A Wall of Remembrance will be inscribed with names of Jewish war veterans from the world over, while the Wall of Honour will carry the names of important battles in which Jewish veterans fought, including those in Israel’s wars.”

In short it will be both a monument to fallen servicemen and a celebration of torture, theft and murder. Architect Daniel Libeskind proclaims that the memorial speaks about those who fought and died fighting for freedom,” but this is disingenuous in the extreme.

Equally tasteless is this comment from says Lou VanDelman, executive director of the memorial foundation: “This is an international memorial; it’s not just for Canadian veterans. Though most of the veterans fought in Word War II, it’s for veterans of all wars.”

The inclusion of those who died fighting for the Zionist Reich proves that this is not a war memorial–”it is war propaganda.

No monument that glorifies aggression must be allowed. If by some perverse chance this monstrosity goes ahead, a monument to honour the victims of the zionist holocaust must also be built. We cannot consider WWII to be over until the lat vestige of Hitler’s fascism is defeated, and we cannot continue to abet aggression by indulging in irrelevant stereotypes.

That is something to remember.
