When it comes to words such as interventionism, militarism, occupation, war, and warmongering, the United States is thought of instantly as the country, which has military bases and forces even at the farthest point throughout the globe.
People and statesmen of different world countries are not alone in accusing the US of warmongering policies, because some high-ranking officials inside the American establishment have acknowledged that the country has a warmongering history of more than two centuries.
Four years ago, former US president Jimmy Carter told another ex-US President Donald Trump in a phone call that US history witnessed 226 years of wars.
Amid the incumbent US President Joe Biden’s recent visit to the Middle East, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged the United States and the West to put an end to interfering in the internal affairs of the Middle East.
In the last two decades, the US spent around 1.8 trillion dollars to wage and continue wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Other evaluations show that the American establishment’s expenditures on issues related to Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Pakistan were estimated at about 3.6 trillion dollars.
The Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University conducted research that shows the US wars following the 9/11 attacks cost more than 5.9 trillion dollars, leaving over 500k dead.
The Brown University report indicates that more than 71k civilians lost their lives in Afghanistan and Pakistan due to the US-led war until April 2017.
However, the US has increased exports of weapons and military equipment to Middle Eastern countries.
The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) reported that the US is still the biggest arms exporter in the world and that the country increased its share of global military equipment exports from 32% in 2011-2016 to 37% in 2020. The SIPRI also wrote that the United States’ share of international arms export stood at 36% between 2014 to 2018.
In conclusion, the interventions and warmongering policies of the US in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Palestine, and other countries as well as the American’s plots to sow discord among Arab and non-Arab players in the region have led to attrition crises to guarantee the US interests.
