Beirut, (UNA-OIC) – United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced a detachment deployment that includes a multinational force in Beirut to assist the Lebanese authorities in dealing with the Beirut port explosion’s repercussions, which occurred on 4 August.
In a statement, UNIFIL said that this deployment came subsequent to a UN Security Council authorization for the mission to take “temporary and special” measures to provide support to Lebanon and its people in the wake of the explosion.
UNIFIL peacekeepers were deployed in the Lebanese capital, with heavy machinery and other equipment.
