UNESCO seeks to broaden Internet connectivity to all schools in Iraq

Baghdad (UNA-OIC) – The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Iraq revealed, on Wednesday, an initiative to provide 3,000 schools with Internet service, stressing that the next stage is to broaden Internet connectivity to all schools in Iraq.

“The initiative will be used to feed data information related to education, which will enable us to make the right decisions, and guide the educational process correctly,” UNESCO Representative in Iraq Paolo Fontani told Iraqi News Agency (INA).

Fontani added that “the next stage is to broaden the Internet connection to all schools in Iraq, and this would reflect positively on the educational performance of the schools.”

“There is a database and use of technology in the education sector, through Newton platform and others, but after 2020 we seek an educational information management system,” he included.
