We Palestinians have so much to learn

"Gaza should be a reminder to them all that nothing amounts to anything as long as the Israeli occupation is in place. We cannot let Israel sit back and mock us while we bicker away and build castles in the air with our own illusions of grandeur. Matar Abu Ata’s mother, his father and that precious little boy who will no doubt grow up in his brother’s shadow are not interested in who sits on the higher horse or how many times both sides try to knock the other one down. All Matar’s mother is thinking and praying for now is that Mater Jr. will never ever meet the fate of his big brother."

Mutual admiration society lets tyrants indulge the illusion of political stability

It’s one thing for a tyrant to boast of political support from foreign governments if he enhances his country and at least gives the illusion that the mass public benefits in some way; it’s quite another to do so for purely selfish reasons at the expense of his own citizens and his country’s reputation.

Don’t Buy into the Hysteria: This Election Isn’t about a Debate

"Putting aside the exaggerated reactions of media commentators "Romney triumphed" or "Obama blew it"—the debate, itself, was quite boring. Like the impact of former President Bill Clinton's convention address that boosted Democrat's morale, Romney's performance might provide a "shot in the arm" to depressed Republicans, many of whom have been troubled by their candidate and his lackluster campaign. Mood changer, yes; but not a "game changer."

Palestine Should Never Become a Lost Cause

"...it is time. Time to reshuffle the cards, let go of illusions of power and trivial desires. If the PA is to remain after Palestine scores membership, it must change form and become a tool for liberation rather than for maintaining this stagnant and dangerous status quo. Because the moment Israel waves us aside with a nonchalant flick of the wrist is the moment we must realize we have lost sight of Palestine and the UN bid will be relegated to the archives of lost causes."

The Grand Default

"...a group of two or three are deciding the fate of the nation. Netanyahu and Ehud Barak alone make all the decisions, “keeping their cards close to their chest”. Attack Iran or not? Politicians and generals are kept in the dark. Bibi and Ehud know best. No need for any other input....But more revealing than the blood-curdling threats on Iran is the total silence about Palestine. Palestinian peace offers are ignored, as were those of Sadat in those days. The ten-year old Arab Peace Initiative, supported by all the Arab and all the Muslim states, does not exist."
