Somali leaders set 10 October for presidential elections

Mogadishu (UNA-OIC) – The Somalia National Consultative Council (NCC) on Tuesday announced the timetable for the upcoming elections following a two-day meeting between the federal government and the leaders of the country’s five federal states in Mogadishu.

The Upper House election will take place on July 25, while one of the People’s House elections will be held from 10 August to 10 September 2021, Somalia National News Agency (SONNA) reported, stating that the presidential polls will be held on 10 October 2021.

Somalia Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, who chaired the meeting that discussed the election updates, expressed the hope for holding free and fair elections based on the agreed timetable and procedures.
