Sheikh Al Azhar hails Oman’s message of tolerance and moderation

Muscat (UNA-OIC) – Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb on Wednesday expressed appreciation of Egypt’s renowned Islamic institution for Oman’s continued role in supporting moderation and tolerance at regional and international levels.

After receiving Oman’s Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Abdulla Nasser Al Rahbi, Sheikh El-Tayeb said the cooperation between Al-Azhar and religious institutions in the Sultanate is constructive and purposeful.

The Sultanate spares no effort in this context, he said, adding that Al-Azhar, which has close ties with Oman at the educational, dawa and cultural levels, is working to consolidate the values of peace, enhance the culture of dialogue and deepen the roots of understanding and coexistence among different cultures and peoples.

For his part, Ambassador Al Rahbi said that during his meeting with Sheikh El-Tayeb, ways of cooperation with Al-Azhar were discussed in light of the interest the Sultanate attaches to supporting the message of tolerance.

The meeting also discussed the exchange of visits between the two sides over the next stage, in order to consolidate cooperation that stems from the Sultanate’s message in promoting tolerance and moderate thought, the Omani diplomat added.
