Kuwait, FAO discuss food security

Kuwait (UNA-OIC) – Kuwait’s Director-General of the Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources Sheikh Mohammad Yousef Al-Sabah discussed with a delegation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) issues related to food security.

This came in a press statement on Sunday, after Sheikh Mohammad Al-Youssef received the delegation headed by FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa Dr. AbdulHakim Elwaer.

The meeting, attended by a team of senior officials of the authority, dealt with Kuwait’s preparations for the success of the experts’ tasks, as the delegation will make field visits in Kuwait, including plant and animal wealth farms, during the coming period.

The delegation will also examine worksites to check the latest developments and provide the necessary data for the joint programs between the two parties, for the development of the agricultural, livestock, and fisheries sector in the country.

Both sides also discussed and coordinated a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding FAO’s permanent office in Kuwait.

The delegation praised Kuwait for its full support for the UN agency’s programs, plans, and policies, which primarily aim at achieving sustainable agricultural development in all countries, especially the Arab ones.
