Conakry (UNA-OIC) – Guinean incumbent President Alpha Condé has been reelected for a third term with 59.55 percent of the vote, the Constitutional Court announced on Saturday.
The court declared Condé the winner of the October 18 presidential election, in which opposition leader Cellou Dalein Diallo contested the result, claiming that ballot papers had been rigged. But the court said the opposition produced no evidence to support its allegations.
Condé, 82, secured a third term after he called for a referendum last March to amend the West African country’s constitution, to enable him to run again.
