Cairo (UNA-OIC) – The Women Development Organization’s technical team met with the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) to discuss possible arenas of collaboration and partnership within the OIC system.
The Fiqh Academy expressed its readiness to support the intellectual and scientific work of WDO, as well as correcting misconceptions when it comes to women’s rights in Islam. The Fiqh Academy team discussed also the issue of convening awareness-raising events and international events, which can be appropriate fora for correcting such misconceptions.
WDO also highlighted key avenues of collaboration such as the Gender Equality Policy of the OIC, and the Think Tank as a Center of Excellence for Gender Studies.
This stock-taking meeting is in line with WDO’s Objective of building solid partnerships with all OIC sister entities, and has laid the foundation for future strategic partnership between the two parties in different domains that are of interest to them.
