Uzbekistan's President discusses with the IsDB President ways to enhance cooperation

Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – On August 18, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Muhammad bin Suleiman Al-Jassir as part of his state visit to Saudi Arabia.

The Uzbek President noted with satisfaction that the partnership with IDB is rapidly developing, and noted the Bank’s strategic role in the implementation of the large-scale reform program in Uzbekistan.

During the negotiations, issues of further expansion of cooperation were discussed. It was emphasized that it is important to establish a full-fledged representative office of the bank in Tashkent as soon as possible, to introduce new financing tools.

Opinions were exchanged on cooperation in the implementation of regional projects on transport infrastructure, ecological programs along the Aral Sea, as well as humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and its socio-economic restoration with the help of a special trust fund of the OIC.

An agreement was reached on considering the terms of holding the next meeting of the Arab Coordination Group, which includes the leading financial institutions of the Islamic world under the leadership of the Bank, in Tashkent.
