Uzbekistan’s Ambassador meets with Malaysia’s Health Minister

On July 2, 2020, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kuala Lumpur Ravshan Usmanov met with the Minister of Health of Malaysia Adham Baba, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The state and priority directions of further development of Uzbekistan – Malaysia cooperation in healthcare and medicine were discussed during the conversation.

The parties informed each other about measures taken in Uzbekistan and Malaysia to counter the spread of coronavirus and expressed their readiness to cooperate in this direction, including in development of drugs and vaccines against it.

Following the talks, agreements were reached on organization of a videoconference between experts in healthcare and medicine to exchange best practices on combating coronavirus and taking control over the system of sanitary and epidemiological surveillance, studying the possibility of organizing training programs and advanced training courses for domestic specialists in surgery (neurosurgery, oncosurgery, transplantation) and therapeutic treatment (radiation and chemotherapy, treatment of rheumatic diseases) in Malaysia as the situation with coronavirus pandemic stabilizes, consideration of the possibility of establishing a joint clinic and managing a medical facility in Uzbekistan with participation of leading private and public clinics and companies of Malaysia, including for development of medical tourism in Uzbekistan.
