Uzbekistan expands cooperation with Polish banks

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Poland Bahrom Babayev met with the leaders of several leading Polish banks – ING Bank Śląski, Pekao Bank, PKO Bank and Bank Zachodni WBK.

Particular attention at the meeting was paid to issues of ensuring financial obligations of the state and the corporate sector, improving legislation in the banking sector and participating in the legislative activities of the Oliy Majlis, providing advisory and expert services, cooperation with international financial institutions, including on functioning the national banking system, the development of banking infrastructure and information support, creating banking services standards and others.

The Polish banks expressed interest in mutual partnership with financial institutions of Uzbekistan. It was emphasized that the three largest Polish banks – the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK), Pekao Bank and ING Bank Śląski are already actively cooperating with Uzbekistan banks.

The participants emphasized that the potential of the financial and economic sphere of Uzbekistan is the most important lever to overcome the raw material orientation in accelerating the diversification of the economy and increasing its efficiency.

Following the meeting, the leaders of Polish banks confirmed their interest in cooperation with Uzbekistan partners.
