Uzbek President stressed the priority of reconstructing Afghan economy

Tashkent (UNA-OIC) – In the address of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the participants of the International Conference on Afghanistan taking place in Tashkent, it is stated that the main priority should be the reconstruction of the Afghan economy, which is an important condition for achieving lasting peace in this long-suffering country.

“This includes its integration into interregional economic processes, the implementation of infrastructure and socially significant projects”, the Head of the state noted.

As previously reported, the conference, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly with ISRS, is attended by special representatives for Afghanistan from more than 20 states of Central and South Asia, Europe, America, the Near and Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region.

“Recently adopted by the UN General Assembly, the Special Resolution on strengthening connectivity between Central and South Asia also confirmed the critical importance of maintaining peace in Afghanistan for ensuring international security”, the President of Uzbekistan noted.

In this regard, the international community must show solidarity with the Afghan people. “We should focus our efforts on creating real prerequisites for making Afghanistan a peaceful, stable and prosperous country, free from terrorism, wars and drugs”, the Head of the state emphasized.
