Uzbek Foreign Minister meets with his Turkish counterpart

Tashkent (UNA-OIC) – On August 2, 2022, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who arrived in Uzbekistan to attend the First Meeting of “Uzbekistan – Azerbaijan – Türkiye” Dialogue Format, in Tashkent.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, it was stressed that at the present stage, Uzbekistan – Türkiye relations demonstrate exceptionally high growth dynamics, enriched with new practical content thanks to the determination and trusting dialogue of the leaders of the two countries.

The main attention was paid to the implementation of agreements at the highest level, including increasing the volume of mutual trade, the implementation of investment projects in various sectors of the economy, the expansion of cultural-humanitarian and tourist exchanges.

The parties exchanged views on the international and regional situation. The Turkish delegation highly appreciated the results of the Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan. The readiness of the parties to continue coordinating efforts in the Afghan direction and providing humanitarian assistance to this country was emphasized.

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu noted the importance of holding the First Meeting of “Uzbekistan – Azerbaijan – Türkiye” Dialogue Format in Tashkent with the participation of the heads of ministries of the three countries responsible for foreign policy, trade, economy and transport issues.

The organizational aspects of the planned events at the bilateral and multilateral levels, including the upcoming Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand, were considered.
