Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) participated in the celebration of World Arabic Day for the Muslim Ummah “Forum for Celebrating the Arabic Language for Islamic Peoples” organized Thursday, by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in cooperation with the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, at the headquarters of the Organization’s General Secretariat in Jeddah.
UNA contributed to the documentary book “The Arabic Language in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation”, issued by the King Salman Academy, through a study written by UNA Acting Director General, His Excellency Mr Muhammad bin Abd Rabbo Al-Yami.
The study, entitled “The Arabic Language in UNA and its member agencies, included detailed documentation of the presence of Arabic in the activities of the Union and the contributions of the Union in promoting the use of the Arabic language in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The study also included a comprehensive presentation of aspects of the use of Arabic in UNA member news agencies (57 official agencies) and recommendations to enhance the Arabic content in news agencies in non-Arabic-speaking Islamic countries.
The OIC and the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language honoured His Excellency UNA Acting Director General during the forum for his contribution to the preparation of the documentary book, which included studies by academics and leaders of the OIC institutions on the presence of the Arabic language in the organization and its organs.
