Kuwait (UNA-OIC) – Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Somalia Adam Abdelmoula, who also serves as the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia, praised the leading humanitarian role of the State of Kuwait.
In a statement to KUNA on Saturday after meeting with Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Chairman Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer, Abdelmoula hailed the role played by the KRCS in providing aid to the afflicted and the needy in different regions of the world, especially in Somalia.
The UN official said the meeting dealt with the humanitarian situation in Somalia and ways to enhance joint humanitarian action there. He also provided an overview of the difficult living conditions in most parts of the Horn of Africa country.
For his part, the KRCS chairman praised the efforts of the UN in Somalia and the humanitarian and relief activities in various social sectors. He stressed the priority interest of the Kuwait Red Crescent to improve the humanitarian situation in Somalia, in order to overcome different challenges.
