The Mauritanian president receives a delegation from the Saudi Fund for Development

Nouakchott (UNA-OIC) – The Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani on Wednesday received in Nouakchott a delegation from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), headed by the SFD’s CEO, Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad.

During the meeting, areas of cooperation between Mauritania and SFD were discussed.

The meeting took place in the presence of Ousmane Mamadou Kane, the Mauritanian Minister of Economic Affairs and the Promotion of Productive Sectors, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the Director of Cabinet of the President of Mauritania, Yahya Ould Kebd, an Officer in Charge of Special Duties at the Mauritanian Presidency, and Mohamed bin Ayed Al-Balawi, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Mauritania.

In statement to the Mauritanian News Agency, The CEO of the SFD, Sultan bin Abdul Rahman Al-Marshad stated that he was honored to meet with His Excellency the Mauritanian President, where he reviewed with His Excellency the prospects for the development partnership between the SFD and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

The development partnership between the SFD and Mauritania extends over more than four decades, during which more than 50 development projects and programs have been implemented in several developmental sectors,” Al-Marshad added.

Al-Marshad indicated that the SFD is looking forward to more cooperation with Mauritania in the future.

It is worth noting that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s government attaches great importance to supporting the development sectors in Mauritania through development projects and programs financed by SFD. Over the past several years, the Kingdom supported 53 development projects in Mauritania through soft development loans and grants totalling more than $800 million, to promote further growth and prosperity of many vital and developmental sectors in the country.
