SESRIC to organize seminar on 'elderly and persons with disabilities in OIC countries'

Ankara (UNA-OIC) – The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), will organize a seminar on “Elderly and Persons with Disabilities in OIC Member States” on December 2, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as part of the activities of the OIC during the Dubai Expo 2020.
The seminar will address the state of the elderly and persons with disabilities in OIC member states. It will feature a panel discussion by experts from the countries of the Organization and its relevant institutions, as well as international organizations.
The participants will discuss common challenges faced by the elderly and persons with disabilities, evaluate the prospects for improving their quality of life, exchange knowledge and best practices in this area, and extend efforts towards enhancing intra-OIC cooperation.
During the panel discussion, SESRIC will present the main findings of two upcoming reports. The first Report on ‘State of Elderly in OIC Member Countries’ provides a comprehensive analysis of the current state of the elderly in the OIC countries. The second Report on ‘People with Disabilities and Special Needs in OIC Countries’ investigates the current state of people with disabilities and special needs in the OIC member states.
