SESRIC organizes virtual training course in 'Communicable Disease Epidemiology'

Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), an OIC subsidiary organ, organized a virtual training course entitled “Epidemiology of Communicable Diseases and Management of Epidemics.”

The course, which lasted from 4 to 7 October, was organized under the auspices of SESRIC’s IbnSina Health Capacity Building Program in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey.

The training course was intended to strengthen the technical capacities of participants from the ministries of health in different aspects of the subject matter including holistic pandemic management and health policies.

The course was opened by SESRIC Director General Nebil Dabur, who welcomed the participants and underscored SESRIC’s commitment to providing the necessary training to officials from Member States in various domains as part of its mandate within the OIC family.

The opening session was also addressed by OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Science & Technology Ambassador Askar Mussinov, who underscored the role of the OIC General Secretariat with its institutions in supporting Member States in their fight against COVID-19 and its adverse effects.

The three-day course was administered by distinguished experts, who presented the participants with various aspects of pandemic management, including contact tracing, diagnosis, treatment, and intensive care practices in COVID-19 cases.
