Qatar, UNDP sign agreement to establish regional office in Doha

Doha (UNA-OIC) – The State of Qatar and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have signed an agreement to establish an office for the UNDP in the Gulf state.

Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Ambassador Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed Al Thani signed the agreement on behalf of her country, while UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner signed on behalf of the Program.

The agreement to establish the Doha-based office comes within the framework of increasing the effectiveness of government-funded development programs and strengthening cooperation programs in areas of common interest.

The office will focus on enhancing cooperation between the UNDP and the Government of the State of Qatar, in order to promote sustainable development goals at the global level and other goals that the Program seeks to achieve in the development field.
