“You’re either with us or against us.” This ominous quote by President George W. Bush profoundly states the fundamental position of the United States in regards to the the rest of the world in the 21st century. The days of America being a “beacon of hope” whose light serves to guide the world to a more purposeful and fulfilling existence, have been extinguished by the perpetual eclipse of tyranny and imperialism. U.S. policy in the Middle East, in particular regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, has been a paradigm of injustice and cruelty falling just short of genocide. The U.S. has not only turned a blind eye to the abhorrence of Palestinian oppression, they have calculatedly supported it and engaged in obscurantists propaganda that surpasses the clever semantics of Hitler’s Third Reich. How can the U.S. justify the removal of over 700,000 Palestinians, as estimated by the United Nations humanitarian agency, from there indigenous land. Obviously this event happened over fifty years ago, yet to truly understand why America has become so hated, one must acknowledge the gravity of this offense.
September 11, 2001, was truly the most repulsive act of political or social action that any group could use to heighten awareness of there plight. The inexcusable death of almost three thousand innocent lives is indefensible and its repugnance can not be palliated. However, instead of the majority of Americans asking why such a tragic event happened, they asked who did it, how they did it, and when are we going to bring them to justice. The Bush administration further obscured the why question by purposely misguiding the American public into believing that we were attacked because the “terrorists hate freedom.” President Bush continued to ease the pain of America yet augmenting our ethnocentricity by associating the reasoning for the attacks of 9/11 with the terrorists being the antithesis to the virtues of our great society. And America bought it: hook, line, sinker. Since the Bush administration omitted the logical reasons for the attack the intent here is to highlight the truth.
The reason why the World Trade Centers exist no more is directly due to the United States perpetual favoritism towards Israel even though they are a model rogue nation. Though there are other contributing factors, U.S. policy relative to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and more importantly its inconsistencies are what stand out. Critics assert that to justify 9/11 based on failures in U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East is absurd. However, the astute observer can not with integrity overlook the numerous massacres and carnage the U.S. has financed under the auspices of “defending Israel.” How can Israel, maintaining one of the most technologically advanced armies in the world, justify the need for disproportionate use of violence versus a people that were for years limited to fighting back with rudiments of the Earth. While the rest of the world condemns the action of Israel the U.S. sits by with the disposition of a preoccupied parent that is oblivious to the disarray that their child is causing in a department store.
Contrary to the rhetoric disseminated by the Bush administration and his paparazzi (also known as the U.S. mass media), 9/11 was a direct result of U.S. policy toward Palestinians and Arabs in general. Terrorism isn’t something that manifest itself out of the desire for material goods or uncontrollable jealousy. Terrorism is a fecund of imperialism and oppresssion that grows perpendicular to injustice and helplessness. Until the U.S. truthfully acknowledges the real reasons for 9/11 then similar atrocities are imminent. The real reason why America is hated conceals itself under the auspices of democratization, protecting its interest, and its emergence as the world’s leading rogue nation.
