Washington Cannibals: Next Stop, Baghdad

Mohamed Khodr’s Column

“Throughout the world, on any given day, a man, woman, or child is likely to be displaced, tortured, killed, or disappeared’, at the hands of governments or armed political groups. More often than not, the United States shares the blame.”

Amnesty International, 1996

While Americans are still in shock at the terrorist tragedy of September 11 and with our military campaign in Afghanistan still raging, America’s Pro-Israeli lobbies and media supporters are already chanting for the next phase to be a war on Iraq. These unpatriotic Americans in the media, think tanks, and in Congress, are urging President Bush to further commit our military to completing his father’s unfinished business with Saddam Hussein, thus putting our military youth in harm’s way and jeopardizing our relationship with the entire 56 Muslim nations, our European allies, and the United Nations, to simply fight Israel’s nemesis. This Israeli campaign involves top officials in our government, our diplomatic corps, Israeli funded think tanks, Jewish American lobbies, corporate leaders, and media pundits.

No other nation except Israel and no other ethnic group in America except Jewish Americans have a revolving door of leadership between Jewish American lobbies and the highest positions in our government, especially in positions in the State Department, National Security Council (during Clinton’s term: 7 of 11 members were Jewish), and Pentagon. The Middle East Negotiating team during Clinton’s years of: Dennis Ross, Arthur Miller, and Martin Indyk were all Jews who came from the Israeli think tank, the Washington Institute for Near East Affairs. Steve Grossman, who from 1992 to 1996 was President of the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the most powerful Jewish lobby in the country, was then appointed by Clinton to serve as the National Chair of the Democratic National Committee, a powerful post that decides on candidate funding. In the March 1997 issue of the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs reports “that in 1992 an embarrassed American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) chairman David Steiner was forced to resign after a contributor, Harry Katz, taped him boasting that AIPAC was “negotiating” with the incoming administration of President-elect Bill Clinton over who would be the next U.S. secretary of state”. It turned out that almost 60% of all top Clinton appointees were Jewish Americans.

Next Stop, Baghdad:

Neither reason, logic, nor lack of evidence shall stop Commander in Chief Bush from his appointed round with Iraq. As he told his troops, “Afghanistan is just the first round.” The most popular President in America’s history has become the Dracula of the Western civilized world unstoppable in his thirst to taste and finish Iraqi blood which his daddy “failed” to do. Logic would dictate that such a popular President would wield his enormous popularity and strength in this fleeting window of opportunity to undermine the causes of terrorism and to bring peace in the Middle East, Kashmir, Chechnya, Philippines, Sudan, and other areas of conflict. Yet delirious with power this young inexperienced President is listening to the hawkish voices of death rather than the voice of the Prince of Peace, Christ his own personal philosopher and savior .

If only Bush would have such courage to stand up to Sharon who responded to Powell’s call to freeze settlement building and negotiate an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land for the last 34 years with a Kosher middle finger directing more bulldozing of Palestinian homes and building new settlements. Until Bush can stand up to Sharon he’ll go down in history as the Butcher of the Weak and the Doormat of A.I.P.A.C.

Finishing Iraq is not a new story. It began almost immediately after the Persian Gulf War by the same “Cannibals” urging war today upon Iraq that will serve Israel’s interest but using our sons and daughters to do the fighting and dying. Something the United States did for decades with poorer nations during its Cold War.

So what are these Israeli Media and Governmental Agents saying about protecting “America’s national interest” by expanding the war to Israel’s enemies? First, let’s look at the commonality of membership in two Pro-Israeli institutions, the Committee for Peace and Security in the Gulf and the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, as well as Syndicated Pro-Israel Columnists (exception: Pat Buchanan and Robert Novak) who contribute to the Jewish World Review and Townhall.com (part of the Heritage Foundation in Washington DC). America needs to know these organizations and recognize the Pro-Israel bias that many of the nationally known columnists and TV “experts” and understand that their agenda is ISRAEL FIRST and not America’s interest. Only by Recognizing this overlapping membership, the preponderance of Jewish Americans and Conservative Columnists, both Republicans and Democrats, and former Government officials who are desperate for America to fight Israel’s Arab enemies, can we prevent the death of our youth and reclaim our government, Congress, and our foreign policy.

A. Committee for Peace and Security in the Gulf:

According to David Lauter’s “White House Lobbies for Force Option” in the L.A. Times, December 11, 1990 he describes this center as:

“The organization, primarily Democrats, is headed by Rep. Stephen J. Solarz (D-N.Y.) and made up largely of longtime political supporters of Israel.”

This center wrote an open letter to President Clinton on February 19, 1998 advocating an all out military campaign to overthrow Saddam Hussein. The letter states: “What is needed now is a comprehensive political and military strategy for bringing down Saddam and his regime We believe, on the contrary, that strong American action against Saddam is overwhelmingly in the national interest.”

Letter signed by powerful former and current Governmental officials.

Stephen Solarz (former House member); Richard Perle (American Enterprise Institute & former Assistant Secretary of Defense, now Bush adviser on Defense matters and lobbyist for Turkey); Elliot Abrams (Read: Eric Alterman’s column: “Blood on his Hand” on MSNBC 7/9/01 where he says of Abrams: “Elliot Abrams is a liar (lied under oath to Congress but pardoned by Bush Sr.) and an apologist for mass murderers…it is a fact. He was also expelled from the D.C. Bar Association.” Now Bush appoints him to be the Director of the National Security Council’s office for democracy, human rights and international operations, in addition to heading the International Religious Conference on Religious Freedom, where he issued a condemnation of Iraq, Iran, and Sudan but not Israel. Former Assistant Secretary of State. Incredibly, President of Ethics & Public Policy Center); Richard V. Allen (Former National Security Advisor to Reagan); Richard Armitage (Currently UnderSecretary of State & Former Assistant Secretary of Defense); Jeffrey T. Bergner (Former Staff Director, Senate Foreign Relations Committee); John Bolton (Senior V.P., American Enterprise Institute; Former Assistant Secretary of State); Stephen Bryen (Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense); Richard Burt (Former Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs); Frank Carlucci (Former Secretary of Defense); Judge William Clark (Former National Security Advisor); Paula J. Dobriansky (Council on Foreign Relations; Former Member, National Security Council); Doug Feith (Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Negotiations Policy); Frank Gaffney (Director, Center for Security Policy; Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Forces); Jeffrey Gedmin (American Enterprise Institute); Fred C. Ikle (Former Undersecretary of Defense); Sven F. Kraemer (Former Director of Arms Control, National Security Council); William Kristol (Editor, The Weekly Standard: owned by Media Mogul Rupert Murdoch); Michael Ledeen (American Enterprise Institute; Former Special Advisor to the Secretary of State): Bernard Lewis (Professor Emeritus of Middle Eastern and Ottoman Studies, Princeton University, known Anti-Islamist); Robert C. McFarlane (Former National Security Advisor of Iran-Contra fame)); Robert A. Pastor (Former Special Assistant to President Carter for Inter-American Affairs); Martin Peretz (Editor-in-Chief, The New Republic: ferocious Anti-Arab/Ant-Muslim writer); Roger Robinson (National Security Council); Peter Rodman (Former Director, Policy Planning Staff, U.S. Department of State); Peter Rosenblatt (Former Ambassador to the Trust Territories of the Pacific); Donald Rumsfeld (Former and Current Secretary of Defense); Gary Schmitt (Former Ex. Dir., President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board); Caspar Weinberger (Former Secretary of Defense); Leon Wienseltier (Literary Editor, The New Republic); Paul Wolfowitz (Former and Current Undersecretary of Defense); Dov S. Zakheim (Former Deputy Undersecretary of Defense);

Recently a similar group of signatories warned President Bush in a letter that his failure to attack Iraq “will constitute an early and perhaps decisive surrender in the war on international terrorism.” The ultimatum was signed by 41 foreign policy veterans and writers, including Jeanne Kirkpatrick, William Bennett and editors at The Weekly Standard, Commentary and The New Republic (all directed by Jewish Americans), and the same syndicated Conservative Columnists.

Writing in The Weekly Standard (owned by Rupert Murdoch, owner of News Corporation and FOX Network, a very strident supporter of Israel), William Kristol and Robert Kagan, both Jewish, wrote: This war “is not going to stop in Afghanistan…it is going to spread and engulf a number of countries. … It is going to resemble the clash of civilizations that everyone has hoped to avoid … it is possible that the demise of some ‘moderate’ Arab regimes may be just round the corner.”

On Sept. 19 and 20, the Defense Policy Board, which includes James Woolsey (former CIA Director), Henry Kissinger, along with Harold Brown and James Schlesinger (both former Secretaries of Defense), wrote in support of eliminating Saddam Hussein. —-(New York Times, October 12, 2001, according to Elaine Sciolino and Patrick E. Tyler)

On “Meet the Press” Senator Joseph Lieberman, the Democratic Vice Presidential candidate in 2000, stated that the United States should attack Baghdad.

B. Washington Institute for Near East Policy

Founded in 1985 by two former AIPAC members (American Israeli Public Affairs Committee–the most feared lobby in Washington DC), Martin Indyk and Barbi Weinberg, a former vice president of AIPAC to serve as a Pro-Israeli Think tank. It’s Board members are a Who’s Who of top Government officials while its staff like Patrick Clawson, Robert Sartoff and Dennis Ross publish often in defense of Israel and appear regularly unopposed on Television, especially on FOX which has become Israel’s mouthpiece.

The Board of Advisors of WINEA are: (http://www.washingtoninstitute.org)

Warren Christopher, Lawrence S. Eagleburger, Alexander Haig, and George Shultz (All former Secretaries of State) Max M. Kampelman, Jeane Kirkpatrick, Samuel W. Lewis, Edward Luttwak, Michael Mandelbaum, Robert McFarlane, Martin Peretz, Richard Perle, James Roche, Eugene V. Rostow, Paul Wolfowitz Mortimer Zuckerman.

These individuals with passionate support of Israel shuffle between top Government positions and Pro-Israeli Lobbying groups ensuring the ultimate protection and financing of Israel at America’s expense. This has been going on for decades and their demand that America declare war on Iraq goes back to 1990 according to the Los Angeles Times.

“The advocates of a war policy also have been bolstered by analysts from the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a think tank with close ties to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the capital’s leading pro-Israel lobbying organization. Washington Institute experts on the region are frequently quoted in television, radio and newspaper stories about the gulf standoff, although their organization’s pro-Israel orientation is seldom cited.” (David Lauter, “War Lobby’ Urges Military Solution,” The Los Angeles Times, 14 September 1990).

**Please notice the commonality of names among these two groups of journalists who fill our papers and television screens as “experts” on the Middle East and on Islam. Also notice that our papers and television rarely if ever invite American Jews, Muslims, or Christians with opposing views to our Pro-Israel policy. Whenever you read their columns or see them on television remember that the agenda for all the above names is ISRAEL’S INTEREST ABOVE AMERICA’S. We must pressure our media to allow other Americans to express their Pro-American views of peace and justice that run contrary to Israel’s so that our nation gets a fair and balanced argument on this issue. None of these person above speaks Arabic, studied Islam, lived in the Muslim or Arab world but have been frequent paid guests to Israel. On issues relating to the Middle East, these columnists either write columns that are Pro-Israel or are Anti-Islamic. No American media would dare publish Anti-Christian or Anti-Jewish columns written in the same hateful language. My fellow Americans, our foreign policy, our Congress, and our media is not Pro-America but Pro-Israel. Our silence continues this tragedy.

NOW TO BAGHDAD. WHO’S BEATING THE DRUMS FOR WAR? AS USUAL IT BEGINS IN ISRAEL.

1. JERUSALEM POST: ISRAEL

“Next stop, Baghdad?” By Janine Zacharia, OCTOBER. 16,2001

“Even before the bombs and missiles rained down on al-Qaida and Taliban targets inside Afghanistan this week, speculation about that question was rampant. Inside the Bush administration a fierce debate about the appropriate scope of the war on terrorism has raged since the September 11 terrorist attacks on the US.

For weeks, people have been talking about “the two camps.” One camp is led by Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz (a Jewish American), who wants the US to define the war on terrorism as broadly as possible and to target all state sponsors of terrorism, particularly Iraq.

Camp two is associated with Secretary of State Colin Powell, charged with the messy business of building coalitions with Arab states who want a quick, narrow war”.

2. JERUSALEM POST, AGAIN WITH SAME HEADLINE ONE MONTH LATER:

“NEXT STOP, BAGHDAD” EDITORIAL November 15, 2001

“The regimes in Teheran and Baghdad represent the combination of oppression and aggression that should make them prime candidates for overthrow, like the Taliban in Afghanistan. And of the two, Saddam Hussein is both the most brutal to his own people and dangerous to the world.

Accordingly, the US should not be shy about saying that, after Kabul, the next place to bring the jubilation of freedom should be either Teheran or Baghdad”

BENJAMIN NETANYAHU APPEARS BEFORE SENATE AND HOUSE ADVOCATING WAR ON ARAB STATES: Before going into a closed briefing session with the US Senate, Benjamin Netanyahu recommended “Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Sudanéother Middle Eastern stateséand the Palestinian [Authority] enclave,” as appropriate targets of the US response to September 11th”.

EXAMPLE OF PRO-ISRAEL AMERICAN JOURNALISTS ADVOCATING WAR ON IRAQ:

1. JIM HOAGLAND: Washington Post 10/12/01 What About Iraq?

“But the mounting evidence of Iraqi involvement in the brand of terror practiced by al Qaeda can no longer be swept under the rug or minimized.”

2. CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Washington Post, September 12, 2001 To War, Not to Court

“Israel, too, is an affront to radical Islam, and thus of course must be eradicated….Nor is the enemy faceless or mysterious…..Its name is radical Islam. We should seriously consider a congressional declaration of war.

These are the shock troops of the enemy…Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Israel, the Osama bin Laden organization headquartered in Afghanistan, and various Arab “liberation fronts” based in Damascus. And then there are the governments: Iran, Iraq, Syria and Libya among them.”

3. CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Washington Post, November 28, 2001 The War: A Road Map

“The war begins in Afghanistan. The take-home lesson must be: Harbor terrorists — and your regime dies. Radical Islam is riding a wave of victories: The campaign, however, cannot stop there Afghanistan is just stage one…..stage two is Syria….Stage three is Iraq and Iran. The war on terrorism will conclude in Baghdad.

4. WILLIAM SAFIRE: New York Times, November 12, 2001 Prague Connection

“The undisputed fact connecting Iraq’s Saddam Hussein to the Sept. 11 attacks is this: Mohamed Atta, who died at the controls of an airliner-missile, flew from Florida to Prague to meet on April 8 of this year with Ahmed al-Ani, the Iraqi consul.” (note: Only Mr. Safire has this “undisputed” fact that has been dismissed by Britain, the European Union, Israel, and the U.S.)

5. WILLIAM SAFIRE: New York Times, September 24, 2001 The Ultimate Enemy

” Now is the time to work out how to strike down terrorism’s boss of all bosses, (Iraq’s Saddam Hussein). Later” may be a stage too late”.

6. MICHAEL BARONE: U.S. News and World Report (usnews.com), September 14, 2001 War, and we must win

“The only way to protect our civilization is to destroy these people. Which means war. But war against whom?….which governments would have trained them? …terrorist stateséIraq foremost among them, Libya, Iran The foremost candidate is Iraq.

“To act, we do not need airtight evidence. We need only the reasonable certainty on which any great nation is justified to act when it is at war.”

7. MICHAEL BARONE: U.S. News and World Report, October 1, 2001 War by ultimatum

“What should be off the table is the abandonment of Israel or pressuring it to make a settlement that endangers its existence. The idea is not to surrender to terrorism but to end it.”

THUS DESPITE THE LACK OF EVIDENCE LINKING IRAQ TO THE SEPTEMBER 11 TERRORIST ATTACK OR TO THE ANTHRAX SCARE CITED BY: British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, Robin Cook, Scotland Yard, NATO General Secretary George Robertson, the European Union, all members of the Security Council, Saudi Arabia, Scott Ritter (former UN Iraqi Inspector), Kofi Annan, and many American experts, but most important of all to the United States is ISRAEL’s Denial of any Link to Iraq, nevertheless, Pro-Israel American Government officials, Members of Congress, Think Tanks, Jewish American lobbies, and Columnists DEMAND a war against Iraq and then other Arab States. The rest of the world shudders at the prospect of attacking Iraq after Afghanistan but the Washington “Cannibals” could care less as long as Israel is served.

ON TWO OCCASIONS ISRAEL’S INTELLIGENCE SERVICE DENIED IRAQ’S LINKS: NOTICE THAT THESE DENIALS WERE REPORTED IN BRITAIN AND NOT IN U.S. MEDIA (note: He who control the news, controls the views)

1. U.K. Telegraph News: November 21, 2001 Iraq ‘not linked to September 11’ By Anton La Guardia, Diplomatic Editor

“ISRAELI intelligence agencies have not detected ANY LINK between Iraq and the September 11 terrorist attacks, officials said yesterday. They also dismissed claims that Osama bin Laden has acquired nuclear weapons.

2. BBC: Sunday, 23 September, 2001 Israel denies Iraqi terror attack link

“Israel’s chief of military intelligence has said in an interview that Iraq was not involved with the 11 September terror attacks in the United States. “I don’t see a direct link between Iraq and the hijackings and terror attacks in the United States,” Major-General Amos Malice said in Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper on Sunday.

“I know many people are wondering whether this kind of attack could be carried out without the help of a country and they immediately point at Iraq or Iran,” Mr. Malka said. There is no Iraqi angle or infrastructure that we can point to at this stage. But as far as intelligence is concerned, I cannot point at the moment to a connection. There is no Iraqi angle or infrastructure that we can point to at this stage,” he added. US intelligence officials say they have found little evidence linking Iraq to the attacks.

What has become of our nation when a small powerful minority can push our military to carpet bomb and murder thousands of innocent civilians on the flimsiest of evidence. How tragic that “American Voices” other than the powerful few don’t have access to our government or media, yet murder will be committed in our name. In the land of the free many Americans are reduced to writing to the choir on internet sites and not in the mainstream media. Without our voices raised we shall spend the holidays celebrating peace while our military is ordered to kill in the name of the few. God help us and forgive us our silence.
