What if it was determined that to galvanize public perceptions toward an anti-Arab agenda, a partially detected terrorist threat by the FBI and the CIA were blocked? Investigations curtailed? Clues not followed up? Agents and their memos ignored?

What if, as a result of this chronic state of anxiety, an idea that would have had no place in the minds of Americans before the New York bombings, is introduced into this mix, to give life to the wishes of a determined administration?

What if, the thoughts of the current administration even prior to a “successful” election were: 1) The removal and intimidation of fickle Muslim leaders that partially control America’s access to energy (oil)? Because, 2) The understanding that Americas dependence on oil and the use of diplomacy as a way of insuring a secure supply, is uncertain, time consuming, costly and humiliating? And so, 3) An awareness now of America’s world dominance, now that the Soviet Union is gone, would indicate that a shift in international policy from diplomacy to aggression might secure and assure middle east energy resources for years to come without humiliation but with strength. (And with some probable side benefits, in other economic and trade issues elsewhere in the world, in the bargain).

What if, along with this thinking they considered that: 4) We must motivate the American public to stand behind a war logic even though the rest of the world may believe such aggression is unwarranted and antithetical to most of the worlds citizens. 5) Is there an incident in Americas past that would guarantee galvanization of the citizenry onto a war footing? Where we could as a point of high moral position suggest to the nation the logic of a “First Strike” pre-emptive policy and the armament spending we anticipate needing, to be the biggest bad guy in the world neighborhood,… when we strike first?

It has something to do with these people. It has to do with these guys in Germany, France, England. It has to do with these guys at the flight schools. It has something to do with hi-jacking. And it has something to do with some guy called Osama Bin Laden and almost all these guys are known to have trained at the terrorists camps,.. over there.

Who besides the terrorists could benefit by such horror? Who would want to? What was there to be gained? Who could, who would, at an intelligence agency, block/curtail/dismiss/ignore the investigation of possible terrorist activities against the citizens of it’s own country? Is not an intelligence agency the rightful home, the paid work place, of the paranoid, the conspiracy theorists, the intellectual elite, the skeptical? Were they all asleep at the switch? Were they all complacent now that the soviets were not a threat? Were they all just carrying their brown bags into work and immediately putting their feet up?

What if this leader chose to fan the flames of terrorism. to increase the anxiety of the American people? To couch his agenda in words of security, freedom, evil, crusade, with us or against us, unilateral, first strike, pre-emptive, patriotic, mass destruction, nuclear weapons, power, strength, etc etc etc? Would this be the rhetoric of a calm leader? A stabilizing leader? Then why would a leader announce at almost every turn, every public appearance these same themes?

The war for energy sufficiency is a war of insecurity at not controlling the source and consistency/stability of that energy. A war showing plainly, that the dependence America feels on foreign oil. is compromising the moral principles of an entire nation particularly those of its leaders.

Independence can, for the short term, be attained by force. But true and enduring independence (freedom) is best acquired through invention and ingenuity, attributes that America in its variety and imitative have in demonstrated abundance.

What would happen to the Automotive Industry?…What would happen to the jobs?…What would happen to the profits?…What would happen to the economy? What would happen to us in the mean time, during the transition between the use of fossil fuel and the use of alternatives?

I suppose then that independence from fickle leaders will have to be gained through force. Of course this will cost lives. Billions of dollars. The corruption of our morals, our beliefs, our principles, our religious and spiritual teachings.
