Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ramazan G. Abdulatipov visited today the Union of OIC News Agencies UNA, where he was received by Acting UNA Director-General Mohammed Abd Rabbo Al-Yami.
During the meeting, Al-Yami reviewed the stages the Union has gone through on covering the news of OIC Member States and the cultural relations among them, in addition to issues related to Muslim minorities. He also highlighted the Union’s vision, which is based on Islamic and media values that encourages transparency, credibility, tolerance and rejection of racism and discrimination.
For his part, the Russian envoy affirmed that the Union’s vision, which aims to confront extremism and hatred, is in line with Russia’s policy that rejects extremism in all its forms, especially the phenomenon of Islamophobia. He noted that Russia is home to more than 25 million Muslims, stressing the need for full coordination between his country and the Union in media and cultural fields.
