Pakistan's MOFA officials, UNA Director-General discuss media support plan for 48th Session of OIC Foreign Ministers Council

Islamabad (UNA-OIC) – Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Sohail Mahmood met Wednesday with Acting Director-General of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) Mohammed Abd Rabbo Al-Yami, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

During the meeting, the two officials reviewed the role of the Union of OIC News Agencies in providing media coverage for the 48th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), which will take place in Pakistan on March 22-23.

They also discussed revitalizing the media role of the Union’s member states in order to contribute effectively to highlighting Islamic issues and promoting media dissemination, including the question of Palestine, the situation in Kashmir, and combating the discourse of Islamophobia and extremism.

UNA Director-General Al-Yami also held a separate meeting with MOFA Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, where the latter was briefed on the Union’s Strategic Plan to support the OIC Foreign Ministers Conference and the accompanying media activities, as well as coordinating with news agencies and media outlets in member countries in this regard, to ensure extensive media coverage of the deliberations of the conference and its important decisions.
