Pakistan calls for thawing out asset freezes in Afghanistan

Tashkent (UNA-OIC) – In his speech at the International Conference “Afghanistan: Security and Economic Development” in Tashkent, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq Khan, called for thawing out asset freezes in Afghanistan and starting the process of reviving the country’s banking system.

“The modern economy cannot do without banking operations. Afghanistan is no exception here”, Mohammad Sadiq Khan said noting that Pakistan continues providing humanitarian assistance to the population of Afghanistan since August last year.

The Special Representative emphasized the importance of the geographical location of Afghanistan in ensuring the transport connectivity of the countries of Central and South Asia, and general prosperity.
