Muscat (UNA-OIC) – In a bid to continue the process of combating the coronavirus pandemic, the third phase of the national serosurvey of COVID-19 infection, conducted by Oman’s Ministry of Health, will begin Sunday.

The survey, which is conducted in four stages, is extremely important in charting the course of the pandemic in the Sultanate during specific periods. Each phase lasts for five days, with two-week intervals between each phase and the other.

The importance of the objectives to be accomplished by the survey have already appeared in the results of the first phase, which revealed that the general prevalence of COVID-19 infection in Oman had reached 6 percent, in addition to assessing the prevalence rate in various governorates and estimating the level of infection in those who have shown no symptoms.

The ministry emphasized the need for individuals to participate in the survey during the set period. It also maintained that no mandatory isolation or wearing of an electronic tracking bracelet will be imposed on the participants.
