OIC voices concern over pre-election violence in Côte d’Ivoire

Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has said it is closely following developments in Côte d’Ivoire ahead of the presidential election scheduled for 31 October 2020.

In a statement released Wednesday, the General Secretariat expressed concern about the violent events reported in Côte d’Ivoire over the past few days, which led to the death of several people in Bonoua and Dabou. It extended condolences to the bereaved families and wished the wounded a prompt recovery.

The OIC General Secretariat urged all stakeholders to engage in dialogue to resolve their differences and to create an environment conducive to holding peaceful elections. It also reiterated the strong support of the OIC to the West African nation in this critical moment.
