OIC Secretary-General receives UNA Director-General

JEDDAH (UNA-OIC) – The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), His Excellency Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, on February 7 in his office in Jeddah received the Acting Director-General of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) Mohammad Abd Rabbo Al-Yami.

The Secretary-General was briefed on the Union’s vision and action plan for the coming years, which revolves around its role as a central media platform for member states, and the advancement of the media industry, based on Islamic and media values that call for transparency, credibility and tolerance.

During the meeting, UNA Director General Mohammad Abd Rabbo Al-Yami reviewed the role of “UNA” in promoting media reporting on the activities of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its various organs in order to convey OIC’s point of view on issues of concern to the Islamic world.

The OIC Secretary-General, His Excellency Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha praised UNA efforts in securing media coverage for OIC’s conferences and events. He also hailed UNA’s action plan for the coming period which involves detailed programs to enhance joint Islamic Action in the field of media.

The OIC Secretary-General stressed the importance of uniting media efforts to serve common Islamic causes, and to support member countries in training their media professionals.
