Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen praised the outcome of the Friends of Sudan Conference, hosted on Wednesday by Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, under the chair of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah.
Al-Othaimeen commended Saudi Arabia’s hosting of this important conference, which aims to support peace and economic stability during the transitional period in Sudan. He also hailed the Kingdom’s continuous support for Sudan, and its commitment to the success of the transitional stage, in a way that guarantees the fulfillment of the legitimate aspirations of the Sudanese people for freedom, justice, peace and sustainable development.
The OIC chief called on all partners of the transitional government in Sudan to provide all possible support to help implement economic reforms, stressing that the OIC and its institutions would harness all their capabilities to support the country, in line with the relevant resolutions.
Meanwhile, the Secretary General renewed his call for having Sudan removed from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism, to help the transitional government to implement these reforms.
