The Secretary-General also extended warm congratulations to the Government of Saudi Arabia, OIC headquarters country and chair of the Islamic Summit, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

He commended the Kingdom’s commitment to organizing this year’s Hajj in line with health precautions, including limiting the number of pilgrims to 60,000 from Saudi citizens and residents, to ensure their safety while performing the rituals, amid the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Al-Othaimeen reiterated his deep appreciation for the heightened and constant care extended by the Kingdom to protect the pilgrims’ health and ensure their safety while providing them with the necessary services.

Ever since it was honored by Allah to serve the Two Holy Mosques, the Saudi leadership has given priority to providing services to the pilgrims and ensuring their comfort, the OIC chief noted, praising the mega projects and expansions in the holy sites and the huge capabilities deployed by the Kingdom to organize the Hajj, under such difficult circumstances.

The Secretary-General prayed to Allah Almighty to accept the pilgrims’ devotions, reward them and forgive their sins, and enable them to complete their Hajj rites in safety and comfort. He also urged the pilgrims to abide by the instructions put in place for their safety, and observe the health protocols, such as wearing face masks and physical distancing.
