OIC offers condolences to Iraq over victims of Baghdad hospital fire

Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, and the people and leadership of Iraq over the deadly fire at the Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital in Baghdad, which treats COVID-19 patients.

Al-Othaimeen prayed to Allah Almighty to shower His vast mercy upon the deceased and to admit them into Paradise, and to grant their families patience and solace. He also wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

The Secretary-General affirmed the OIC’s stand and solidarity with the Republic of Iraq in this difficult circumstance.

Media reports quoted Iraq’s Interior Ministry as saying on Sunday that at least 82 people died and another 110 injured after the fire engulfed the hospital in Iraq’s capital city on Saturday night.
