Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – The Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF), a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has provided a financial grant to The Gambia, with the aim of strengthening the capabilities of its health sector in the face of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The grant was received by Gambian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Omar Jibril Salah, who also serves as The Gambia’s permanent representative to the OIC, in the presence of OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, ISF Executive Director Ibrahim Al-Khuzaim, and OIC Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakhit.
The OIC chief praised the efforts of the president of the ISF’s Permanent Council and its executive director. He noted that the Fund’s move to support member states comes in the context of the Organization’s commitment to harnessing all its capabilities for the benefit of member countries to help them cope with the pandemic.
