OIC Family Strategy is on track

Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held an open-ended intergovernmental expert group meeting to finalize the internal and financial regulations of the OIC Family Committee at its headquarters in Jeddah on Monday.

Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakhit, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural, and Social Affairs, delivered the speech of the OIC General Secretariat, in which he indicated that on the initiative of Saudi Arabia, the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) approved the holding of a ministerial conference to review the topic of “preserving the marriage and family institution and its values ​​in the OIC Member States” at its 42nd Session (Kuwait 2015).

Saudi Arabia hosted the first session of the conference in 2017 in Jeddah, which issued resolutions calling for the preparation of the OIC strategy to empower the marriage and family institution in the Islamic world and form a ministerial committee to follow up the implementation of the resolutions issued by the conference and finalize the strategy already prepared by the OIC General Secretariat to empower the marriage and family institution.
