Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen held a virtual meeting on Monday with Ambassador Patrick Simonet, on assuming his duties as the new Special Envoy of the European Union to the OIC.
During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the importance of OIC-EU cooperation and partnership and ways to enhance them in various fields. They also discussed the most important issues of common interest and the efforts made by the OIC and the EU to respond to the coronavirus pandemic, combat terrorism and extremism, and promote moderation and coexistence.
Both parties commended the outcome of the fourth OIC-EU Senior Officials Meeting held on 15 July 2020, stressing the importance of continuing such encounters.
