OIC Council of FMs session holds special significance: Pakistan FM

ISLAMABAD (UNA-OIC) – Pakistan Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood has apprised heads of the resident OIC Missions of the ongoing preparations for the 48th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, to be held in Islamabad on 22nd and 23rd of this month.

At a meeting in Islamabad, the Foreign Secretary underscored that the 48th Session holds special significance as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence, according to a report from ‘Radio Pakistan’.
He said the people of Pakistan are looking forward to welcoming the honoured guests on this auspicious occasion.
The Foreign Secretary highlighted that the theme of the Session “Partnering for Unity, Justice, and Development” represents Pakistan’s commitment to promote unity within the Ummah, advance the cause of justice for all Islamic peoples, and promote inclusive and sustainable development for OIC Member States.
Guided by this vision, he said Pakistan will seek to build bridges of cooperation and partnerships amongst OIC Member States and beyond.

The Foreign Secretary said all the Heads of Delegation will be invited to witness the traditional ‘Pakistan Day’ Parade on 23 March 2022 as “Guests of Honor.”

In another step to celebrate the occasion, the federal government on Thursday announced three holidays in Islamabad for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers Conference to be held in Pakistan from March 22 to 24.

The public holidays has been announced in connection with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting from March 22 to March 24.

According to the notification issued, March 23 will be a public holiday of Pakistan Day.
