Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned 21 September’s failed coup in Sudan, as an attempt to destabilize the country and disrupt its peaceful political transition.
As provided for in the resolutions of the Islamic Summit and the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) on solidarity with Sudan, the General Secretariat reaffirmed full solidarity with the Sudanese government and people in support of the transition process for stability, peace, and democratization, as defined by the interim Constitutional Charter co-signed by the Transitional Military Council (TMC) and the Forces of Freedom and Change alliance (FFC). The OIC also signed the agreement as an international guarantor.
The General Secretariat further expressed support to the transition government in its efforts to achieve comprehensive peace, tackle Sudan’s social and political problems and rise up to the aspirations of the Sudanese people for stability, progress and prosperity.
