Mr. Bush, Your Pre-emptive War Doctrine is a Recipe for Disaster

Mohamed Khodr’s Column

Dear Mr. President:

I and many Americans feel our nation’s direction toward a “Pre-emptive” attack on another sovereign nation that has not attacked us nor has posed any danger to our national security since the end of the Gulf War. Pre-emptive attack is a dangerous precedent for a world full of weapons of mass destruction with the U.S. being the primary dispenser of such weapons around the world.

Americans feel that is a cynical politicized war for Congressional elections and your re-election campaign. Massacring civilians and jeopardizing American lives without any justification is immoral and Un-American, and given your born again faith, utterly Un-Christian.

Attacking Iraq will not be opposed by the gutless dictators of the MidEast that America has bought and anchored, but in due time, Mr. President the Muslim world will be enraged as our action will prove Osama Bin Laden’s terrorist justification to be right. Your arguments on WMD are disputed by many experts, your argument on Iraq’s violation of U.N. Resolutions is correct, your argument on “liberating” an oppressed people rings hollow. Those three arguments in truth apply more to Israel, led by your “Man of Peace” than to Iraq. Israel is the only nation with WMD, 200-400 nuclear bombs. Israel has been in violation of 90 UN Resolutions since 1947. Israel is even today occupying and oppressing Palestinians who yearn for > “liberation” yet you allow Israel a free hand to oppress with an occassional call for “restraint”

Mr. Bush, you will create thousands of Bin Laden’s, you will disrupt world stability and foster “pre-emptive” strikes by China, India, Russia, and other nations.

Please level with the American people and either present clear and present dangerous evidence proving your case or pull back from unleashing a Pandora’s box more driven by your administration’s ideology than any moral truth you’ve presented.

Christ, your philosopher, would not approve of Pre-emptive attacks when he taught peace, love your enemy, and turn the other cheek. You are imitating Bin Laden with an irrational obsession for war. We will support you if you tell us the truth, otherwise, Mr. President neither the American people nor history will forgive you.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mohamed Khodr
