Mene, Tekel Ufarsin – You Were Tested and You Failed the Test

(Mrs. Edna Yaghi wrote the following article in response to the 3rd letter from Dr. Andrew E. Mathis to the Editor)

“The winds blow strongest against those who stand tallest.” F.C. Hayes
It seems the one whose goat was gotten was you Dr. Mathis and not anyone else.
As for your question number one Dr. Mathis, I shall only answer that I leave it up to your vivid imagination and a bit of Hollywood theatrics.
Question number 2. I never had any doubt that you were a Jew and no, this does not bother me in the least. I also knew you were a Zionist and yes, this does bother me a great deal. Saying you are a “very left-wing Zionist,” is the same as saying you are a serial killer but only kill those who deserve to die. Zionism is the anti-thesis of all that is right and good in this world. It is the anti-thesis of life itself, peace and the tenets of Judaism. As Professor William E. Hocking stated, “political Zionists are the chief enemies of the Jewish interest in the world of tomorrow.”
Though the Jews are no longer a race of people, Israel is a racist state. Racist meaning that Israel discriminates against non-Jews on the basis of religion. The words of Montague David Eder, former President of the Zionist Federation of Great Britain still ring true when he said, “There can be only one national home in Palestine, and that a Jewish one, and no equality in the partnership between Jews and Arabs.”
The UN Resolution in 1975 declaring Zionism to be a form of racial discrimination is a valid declaration. Being critical of Zionism and the brutality of the Israeli government is not being anti-Jewish.
Joseph Weitz, Jewish National Fund, who was the administrator responsible for Jewish colonization once said, “There is no other way then to transfer the Arabs from here (Palestine) to the neighboring countries, to transfer all of them; not one village, not one tribe should be left.”
Again, let me remind you that official Zionist history describes which methods of terrorism should be used against the Palestinians with the objective to “inflict physical harm or liquidate them.”
My title was meant for you Dr. Mathis no matter how you took it for you rewrite and distort history. I do not make such attempts. That you have labeled me as “exceedingly rude and presumptive” in my choice of titles is sort of like the pot calling the kettle black. I presume nothing, cannot read minds, but I do a pretty good job at reading between the lines as I also mentioned before.
Allow me to quote Israel Shamir, who is a Jew and an Israeli writer. I consider him a great man and a very brave one. He said in his weekly column in the Vesti, the biggest Russian-language paper in Israel, “Our Jewish army murders civilians, demolishes houses, starves millions and imposes the siege on the Palestinian villages. Our crimes exceeded the Russian crimes in Chechnya and Afghanistan, the American crimes in Vietnam and Serb crimes in Bosnia.”
He went on to say, “We do not mind occupation and invasion, as long as we invade and occupy. The sight of a child raising hands in front of the machine gun toting thug grieves us only if it is a Jewish child. The Gentile child can be shot at freely.”
Then he stated a little further on, “Let us put it straight, we were against racism as long as it was somebody else’s racism. We were against death squads and Sonderkommando as long as they acted against us. Our own killers, our Jewish Sonderkommando is the object of our tender admiration. The Jewish state is the only place in the world possessing legitimate killer squads, embracing the policy of assassinations, practicing torture on the medieval scale. Do not worry, dear Jewish readers, we torture and assassinate Gentiles only.”
I shall stand with Israel Shamir and blame you Dr. Mathis as well as all Israelis, for the Palestinian suffering. I also blame the apathetic Americans for allowing such suffering to continue. I blame the Arab leaders for their lack of concern and their selfishness and I blame myself for not trying harder to change what is happening to the Palestinians
I shall now leave you with some of Mr. Shamir’s closing words. “We can choose the way of Neneveh, to repent, to return the stolen property, to give full equality to the Gentiles, to stop discrimination and murder, and hope to be forgiven by God, if not for our sake, then for the sake of our cats and dogs. We can persist in our evil ways as the people of Sodom and wait for the flood of fire and burning sulphur from the angry heavens of Palestine.”
