Mawhiba and ALECSO poised to launch 'Gifted Arabs' initiative

Riyadh (UNA-OIC) – King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), and the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) will hold a press conference on Wednesday, to launch the start of the registration stage in the “Gifted Arabs” initiative.

The press conference is scheduled to take place at Mawhiba headquarters in Riyadh with the participation of Mawhiba Secretary-General Dr. Saud bin Saeed Al-Mathami, and ALECSO Director-General Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, in the presence of Chairman of the Executive Council of ALECSO Hani bin Moqbel.

The Gifted Arabs initiative is concerned with empowering giftedness and creativity and creating a stimulating environment for them, as the main source of prosperity for the world, in addition to promoting a passion for science to build promising young Arab leaders who would lead the Arab world towards a prosperous future.

The initiative emphasizes that investing in nurturing the gifted is one of the most important components of sustainable development in societies. It also aims to lead a scientific movement to discover, nurture and embrace talented and creative people in the Arab world.

ALECSO will coordinate with the ministries of education in the Arab States so that each ministry can nominate a group of its distinguished students to be subjected to the scale of Mawhiba for the multiple mental abilities, as a means of discovering and nurturing gifted people in the Arab world.

The Gifted Arabs initiative comes to highlight the Saudi leading role in nurturing talent in the Arab world and globally, as well as the role of Mawhiba, which has the most comprehensive program in caring for the talented in the world.

Mawhiba and ALECSO have a long history of partnership and cooperation, which began with the signing of a memorandum of understanding in 2008 to prepare the Arab Strategy for Giftedness and Creativity in Public Education, in implementation of the recommendations of the 6th Conference of Arab Ministers of Education and Scientific Research, hosted by Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, in 2008.
