Jordan's FM, Saudi counterpart review international, regional developments

Cairo (UNA-OIC) – Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, held talks on the Saudi-Jordan ties and the regional and international developments.

Safadi and bin Farhan met on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 155th session of the Arab League Council in Cairo, Egypt, and discussed the pan-Arab efforts in addressing the regional challenges and the prospects of breathing life into the Mideast peace process.

They agreed that any negotiations to settle the Palestinian-Israeli conflict should be based on the Arab peace initiative and a two-state solution that would guarantee the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Yemen was at the top of the agenda, as both diplomats discussed the international efforts exerted to end the Yemeni crisis and the necessity of ending the tension in the Gulf region.

Safadi inveighed against the recent Houthi group’s attacks on Saudi Arabia, emphasizing Amman’s unflagging support for and solidarity with Saudi Arabia. He stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security is Jordan’s security.
