Iraqi War Based on Collusion of the U.S. and Israel

The Bush administration through meticulous and calculated forms of propaganda has removed any viable diplomatic measure to evade war with Iraq.  Saddam Hussein has been so thoroughly demonized by the media and the administration that any action other war would seriously damage the credibility of the administration.  According to President Bush, Saddam Hussein is “a danger to all civilization” and he must be disarmed and removed expeditiously.  When asked about logical evidence to support this notion the White House has stated that Hussein currently has biological and chemical weapons and is in the process of obtaining nuclear capability.  The Bush administration has also suggested that containment is not a viable option due to the mental instability and Saddam’s annoying natural proclivity to disturb the peace in his neighborhood.  The ironic part is how President Bush has managed to make Iraq priority number one relative to the national security of the United States of America seen as though the U.S. is seven thousand miles from Iraq.

Deductive reason allows objective observers to wade through the sea of propaganda in order to reach the conclusion that an Iraqi invasion has very little pertinence to U.S. security.  As a matter of fact an attack on Iraq would be counter effective to the “War on Terror”.  An invasion would legitimize even the most fanatical Islamic extremists’ doctrine by allowing them to emphasize this unsubstantiated attack on an Arabic country while Israel is the largest benefactor of the conquest.

Israel has for decades attempted to neutralize Iraq primarily due to its strong military and for geopolitical reasons.  Iraq has been a thorn in the side of Israel for several years with its relentless support of Palestinian refugees.  Most recently Iraq has given financial compensation to the families of suicide bombers that carry out these attacks in Israel.  Needless to say, Ariel Sharon and other pro-Israel activists aren’t to please with Saddam’s actions.

Israel has since its inception made use every possible resource to demilitarize all of its Arab neighbors.  Israel’s supporters regularly pressure Congress into blocking military sales even to moderate Arab countries.  In 1981, Israel bombed Iraq’s Osirak nuclear facility near Baghdad, with U.S. made warplanes and direct U.S. logistical assistance.  However irrational as a leader, these acts solidified Saddam’s suspicions of a U.S.-Israeli collusion whose purpose was to destabilize his government.  This raid was the culmination of a secret Israeli campaign called Operation Sphinx attempt to destroy Iraq’s nuclear weapons program.

With this backdrop we fast forward to the contemporary issue of a U.S. invasion of Iraq.  American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the powerful organization that serves the interests of the state of Israel on Capitol Hill, is believed by many to be the true architect of U.S. policy in the Middle East.  These claims have been substantiated by various members of the Israeli and the U.S. government.  In as early as 1956, Secretary of State John Foster Dulles complained: “I am aware how almost impossible it is in this country to carry out a foreign policy [in the Middle East] not approved by the Jews.”  President Richard Nixon noted in his memoirs that: “One of the main problems I faced…was the unyielding segments of the American Jewish community, Congress, the media and in intellectual and cultural circles.  In the quarter century since the end of World War II this attitude had become so deeply ingrained that many saw the corollary of not being pro-Israel and being anti-Israel, or even anti-Semitic.”

As we move closer to the brink of war it is vital that as Americans an as citizens of the globe that we become more informed on the implications of recanting all former etiquette for invading another countries sovereignty for unsubstantiated and tenuous circumstances.
