IOFS to hold online conference on Afghanistan Food Security Programme

Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) to organize the Conference on Implementation of the Afghanistan Food Security Programme (AFSP) in an online format on 14 November 2022 (at 15h00, Astana Time).

The Conference aims to assess the AFSP implementation status after its mandate was provided to the IOFS by the Resolution adopted by the 17th Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers on the Situation in Afghanistan, held on 19 December 2021 in Islamabad, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Participants in the Conference will deliberate on how the IOFS may diversify its projects within the AFSP or the best approach for Member States to provide their valuable support. They are also expected to provide their views on some of the actions being prepared for the near future.

It is noteworthy that the IOFS is a specialized institution affiliated with the OIC. It is concerned with promoting agricultural and rural development and food security in the OIC member states, with its headquarters in Astana, Kazakhstan.
