17.06.2020

The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Khamrayev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Uzbekistan Olivier Shave signed an agreement on the implementation of the second phase of the National Water Management Project in Uzbekistan.

Ambassador Olivier Shave emphasized that the rational management of water resources is an important issue for both parties, therefore, it was decided to continue the implementation of the planned projects, despite the pandemic.

The second phase of the National Water Management Project in Uzbekistan is a logical continuation of the activities of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation within the framework of the Regional Water Management Program in Central Asia.

Within the framework of the project, software will be developed in 13 basin departments of irrigation systems and 152 district irrigation departments for efficient water use and stable water resources management. It also envisages the creation of an ICT-based monitoring system for irrigation and drainage networks.
