IMCTC organizes presentation on counter-terrorist financing

Riyadh (UNA-OIC) – The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) held at its headquarters in Riyadh a presentation entitled “Illuminations on Counter-Terrorist Financing”.

The presentation was delivered by Col. Saad Al-Shahrani, delegate of Saudi Arabia to the coalition in the counter-terrorist financing domain, in the presence of Acting IMCTC Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, delegates of member countries and IMCTC personnel.

Al-Shahrani noted Saudi Arabia’s leading role in counter-terrorism financing and the most important global efforts to combat it, stressing the importance of implementing UN Security Council resolutions on combating terrorism and its financing. He also addressed the legal and legislative frameworks of counter-terrorist financing and the best practices in this regard.

The Saudi delegate also emphasized the need to strengthen the level of governmental cooperation and coordination in the field of combating terrorism and its financing, in order to effectively implement the relevant Security Council resolutions, which will have positive repercussions on the member states of the coalition.

This presentation comes as part of a series of presentations, discussions and workshops, carried out by the coalition with the participation of the delegates of member states, on counter-terrorist financing, as one of IMCTC’s counterterrorism domains (ideology, communications, counter-terrorist financing, and military).
