Pilgrims settle in Mina to spend the day of Tarwiyah

Makkah Al-Mukarramah (UMA-OIC) – The pilgrims settled in Mina this morning, Thursday, the eighth of Dhu al-Hijjah 1443, to spend the al-Tarwiyah day, amid a set of integrated services provided by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to enable the pilgrims to perform their rituals (Manasik) easily.

This year, one million pilgrims will perform the Hajj, including 850,000 from abroad.

The government agencies concerned with the service of pilgrims in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were keen to prepare Mina with all the equipment and services that would allow pilgrims to spend the day of Tarwiyah with ease.

In this regard, 4 hospitals and 26 health centers were fully prepared to serve pilgrims in Mina. This includes
Emergency Hospital with a capacity of 190 beds including 12 beds for emergency and 34 beds for intensive care, Mina Al-Jisr Hospital with a capacity of 150 beds, 36 of which were allocated for emergency beds and 28 beds for intensive care, while the bed capacity in Mina Al-Wadi Hospital is 160 beds and emergency 24 beds and 25 intensive care beds, in addition to new Mina Street Hospital with a capacity of 50 beds, including 13 emergency beds and 16 intensive care beds.
These health facilities are supported by a fleet of ambulance transport, consisting of 100 small ambulances and 75 large ambulances, to handle any emergency cases.
Along the Mina area, the Saudi National Water Company provided operational and strategic storage quantities to pump 2.4 million cubic meters through its networks, while the Saudi Electricity Company strengthened its services in Makkah and the holy sites through 46 new projects.
Government agencies have also harnessed their capabilities to provide advanced tents made of glass tissue covered with “Teflon” that is resistant to high heat and ignition, and which eliminates the emission of toxic gases.

The tents project includes all the requirements of security, safety and appropriateness to the public surroundings, by providing 30,000 fire-fighting sprinklers, more than 3,000 surveillance cameras, and more than 12,000 headphones for guidance and alerts, in addition to more than 15,000 air conditioning and ventilation units.

It is worth noting that the arrival of the pilgrims to Mina on the day of Tarwiyah and overnight there on their way to stand at the site of Arafat is a confirmed Sunnah (
Sunnah mu’akkadah).

Mina is a valley six kilometres east of the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah. It’s where Hajj pilgrims sleep overnight on the 8th, 11th, 12th (and some even on the 13th) of Dhul Hijjah. The valley of Mina contains the Jamarat, the three stone pillars which are pelted by pilgrims as part of the rituals of Hajj.
